As a proud Narungga/Wirangu woman, Kartanya isn't your typical consultant who learned about diversity from textbooks. She's lived it, breathed it, and carved her path through it for over three decades.

While others talked about breaking barriers, Kartanya was literally driving trucks through them. Picture this: a young Indigenous woman funding her university degree by handling overnight hauls between Adelaide and Broken Hill, sometimes further. That's the kind of real-world grit you can't teach.

Her Humanities and Social Sciences degree? She earned it at a time when Indigenous people and working-class Australians were given the cold shoulder in higher education. But here's the thing about Kartanya - she doesn't just overcome obstacles, she turns them into stepping stones for others to follow.

From the driver's seat of a truck to the boardroom table, Kartanya has deliberately chosen to experience every level of the workplace hierarchy. She's managed teams in transport and logistics, navigated government bureaucracy, and led non-governmental organisations. Why? Because you can't truly understand systemic barriers until you've seen them from every angle.
